In India, many people identify themselves to belong to a different community, though it is very commonly practiced, it is still a controversial topic. That is the caste system! The Indian constitution has forbidden untouchability and discrimination due to caste, but still, in many parts of India, it is practiced on a regular basis.

This has been a very controversial topic over the years, and we thought twice before writing this article, but it is essential to address the fact that we still have reservations in 2020. Is it still

Necessary in 2020? it is very debatable. Let’s check out the facts first. We’ll write both the perspectives and then we can discuss it.

From the lower caste’s people defense:

We can still hear a lot of crimes committing against them. So they still want to have that privilege. The situation didn’t change much when compared to the past in many regions of the country. Every day there are numerous crimes being reported against lower caste people and a lot of them don’t ever come out. I’m not gonna bore you with the newspaper clips and as you, all know and saw them in news and social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook. The harsh social realities of some people of lower caste still remain unheard and heartbroken. In urban cities and metro cities, it’s very less. But in villages and rural regions, it is still very very high. But the advantages of the reservation quota is mostly used by the metro city people as they are much aware and they have good resources. But the people in villages are still suffering and trying hard to make their ends meet. So yes, it would definitely help them to have that extra advantage.

What can we do about this?

-We can at least try to teach them about that little cushion that they have and help them make complete use of it(I’m talking about people who live in rural areas and don’t have enough knowledge about all these things)

-If you ever come across someone who’s a little harsh towards lower caste people, we should try to change their perspective. I know, it’s not easy and will not happen overnight but this can’t go on forever, right?

From the upper caste’s people defense:

there are outrageous reactions of upper caste people when it comes to the reservation as they won’t have that help from the government. I personally saw a lot of people blaming reservation quota and lower caste people for not getting their dream college or government job. There is Reservation even in politics. It’s propagating the notion of a caste-based society instead of eliminating it.

What can we do about this?

-How about treating people equally? Let’s start there.

-We can urge the government to add some reservation quota seats based on financial status.

Although this blog might be a small step towards a big goal but with the support and understanding, we can make this goal a reality
